members of the world community

For the attention of all Parents/Guardians.

Please read the attached information on the Election of Parent Governor.

Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s)

You are probably aware of the regulations of the Education Order (Northern Ireland) 1984, which requires the inclusion of parent representation on the School’s Board of Governors.

Our Board of Governors will have 9 voting members, one of whom will be a parent elected by the parents of pupils presently attending the school.

The next four years will see significant changes in Education with decisions to be made on Transfer and on School Finance. We would welcome the insight and wisdom of a representative of the Parent Body as we face these challenges.

Each eligible parent is entitled to stand for election, to nominate and second a candidate, and to vote. I have enclosed a short description of the role of Governor for your information (see link below).

Should you wish to nominate a candidate, please use a nomination form (see link below) which should be completed and returned to the Principal’s office as soon as possible and not later than Friday 12th January 2018.

The election will take place at a specially convened meeting of parents for that purpose in the Lecture Theatre at 6.30pm on Tuesday 16th January 2018. Nominations will be declared at this meeting and those parents present will vote by secret ballot.

Yours faithfully

Ms Sharon Mallett
Principal
