Congratulations to Aoibheann Holmes (Year 10) on receiving a special 'Courage' award at the recent Derry Credit Union Young People Awards Ceremony.
The Awards were made at the City Hotel where several of the city's outstanding young people collected accolades for their contributions to, or for achievements in several categories - Arts, Business and Entrepreneurship, Carer, Community service, Leadership, Courage and Contribution to Sport.
Aoibheann received her award for the courage she has shown in dealing with her Cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Thankfully, Aoibheann is currently 9 years “cancer free”. Her bravery is evident in the way she fought to recover, as is her steely determination in how she works hard to stay on top of her school work with the support of her teachers and friends.
We are very proud of Aoibheann and her achievement.
