On Wednesday 13th February four teams from Thornhill College competed in the Ulster Schools Cross Country Championships.

There were some great performances on the day, with three individuals and the Minor team qualifying for the Irish Schools’ Cross Country Championships on Saturday 9th March.

Individual qualifiers
Year 10: Sophia Byrne 14th
Year 11: Cara Laverty 2nd
Year 14: Mary Cait Byrne 7th

Team Results
The Year 8 team came 3rd with Meabh Coyle and Hannah Wade both finishing in the top ten. Team members are Meabh Coyle, Hannah Wade, Ava Carlin, Freya McDaid, Grace Doherty and Katie Peace.

Cara O’Loughlin finished in 8th place leading the Year 9 team to a third place finish and team qualification for the Irish Schools Championships. Team members are Cara O'Loughlin, Aoife Clarke, Niamh Doherty, Jasmine O'Kane, Aoibh O'Hare and Veronica O'Neill.


The Year 10 team finished in 6th place and were led home by Sophia Byrne who finished in 14th place, thereby qualifying for the Irish Schools championships. Other team members are Kate Roberts(YR9), May-Leigh Lynch and Neala McShane.

The Seniors girls team finished in 4th place, led home by Mary Cait Byrne who finished 7th, also qualifying for the Irish Schools. Team members are Mary Cait Byrne, Amy Mullen and Orla McGinley.
