Information regarding the appeals process for GCSE, AS and A-Level grades awarded in Summer 2021

Receiving GCSE, AS & A-Level Grades (Summer 20210):

AS & A-Level grades will be issued on Tuesday 10th August 2021.

GCSE grades will be issued on Thursday 12th August 2021.

Results will be available for collection from 9:30am on both these dates in school.

Year 14 students will be able to access their CCEA results using the PIN they were issued with, however non-CCEA results will need to be collected in person at school.

Year 11 students who are awaiting results for the completion of their GCSE Mathematics, can also collect this result on the morning of Thursday 12th August 2021 from 9:30am onwards. This includes students in Year 11 from the following Mathematics teachers’ classes: Mrs M. Ormsby, Mrs B. Crossan, Mrs Z. Devine and Mrs G. O’Donnell.

 

Appeals Process (Summer 2021):

The appeals process has 2 stages:

Stage 1 – Centre Review Request by student, completed by Thornhill College

Stage 2 – An Appeal to CCEA submitted by Thornhill College on behalf of a student and completed by CCEA

Stage 1 must be completed and a candidate receive the outcome of the Centre Review before a candidate can proceed to Stage 2.

Please note Year 14 students only need to record their UCAS ID and / or CAO ID number on the Student Appeal Form.

Complete Stage 1 of this form and submit to the Examinations Officer in Thornhill College for a Centre Review (see Thornhill College’s Post-Results Services Policy).

Following a decision being received on the Centre Review, candidates wishing to proceed to Stage 2, should then complete Stage 2 of the same form and submit it to the Examinations Officer in Thornhill College to forward the Appeal to CCEA on their behalf (see Thornhill College’s Post-Results Services Policy).

All requests sent to the Examinations Officer must state: the name of the student, the level of qualification and “Appeal Request” e.g. Student Name, A2, Appeal Request (see Thornhill College’s Post-Results Services Policy).

 

Priority Appeals Deadlines (Year 14 ONLY):

The priority service for appeals is only available to Year 14 students as they may have a place in Higher Education on hold pending a decision.

Stage 1 Priority Centre Review (service for Year 14 only) – submitted to Thornhill College no later than noon on Thursday 12th August 2021.

Review Panel will meet on Monday 16th August to consider Priority Centre Reviews (Year 14 only).

A decision on the Stage 1 Centre Review will be communicated by email to candidates from Thornhill College on Tuesday 17th August 2021.

Stage 2 Priority Appeal to CCEA (service for Year 14 only) submitted by Thornhill College on behalf of a student and completed by CCEA – requests must be submitted by candidates to Thornhill College no later than noon on Wednesday 18th August 2021 so it can be forwarded to CCEA for Monday 23rd August 2021.

 

Appeals Deadlines (All Other Students):

Stage 1 Centre Review– submitted to Thornhill College no later than noon on the Tuesday 24th August 2021.

Review Panel will meet on Wednesday 1st September to consider Centre Reviews (all other students).

A decision on the Stage 1 Centre Review will be communicated by email to candidates from Thornhill College on Friday 3rd September 2021.

Stage 2 Appeal to CCEA submitted by Thornhill College on behalf of a student and completed by CCEA – requests must be submitted by candidates to Thornhill College no later than noon on Tuesday 7th September 2021 so it can be forwarded to CCEA for Friday 17th September 2021.
