Three Thornhill pupils prepare to celebrate success at British Education Awards Ceremony in London

Students from across Britain are set to gather at a unique awards ceremony that will celebrate British education.
The event will be the first of its kind and honours students from across the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland for exemplary academic and extracurricular achievement.
The inaugural British Education Awards will be held at Grand Connaught Rooms in London, on January 30th. Nominees are travelling from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England to attend the special occasion, which will honour them individually for their hard work and success.

Three Thornhill pupils have received nominations for these awards:

Niamh McCay

In addition to excellent A-Level results Niamh has achieved grade 8 in Classical Singing and Musical Theatre and grade 8 in Speech & Drama. Niamh teaches piano and supports children through vocal lessons, and is keenly involved with a wide variety of community enrichment programmes.

 

 

 

 

Jayne Condren

As well as achieving excellent A-Level results Jane is an accomplished Irish dancer. Jayne has been Ulster Champion four times and twice won the World Irish Dancing Championships. She maintains her dancing commitments alongside her studies (Maths degree in Newcastle) regularly returning home to Derry to compete.

 

 

 

 

Jessica O’Hare 

Jessica was nominated as a BEA finalist for her outstanding GCSE exam results, in which she gained 11 A*. A talented sportswoman, Jessica represents the school athletics team and regularly competes at District, Provincial and National level.
