Educating concerned, informed, adaptable
members of the world community

The Art and Design Department facilitates the personal development of pupils through creative and expressive activities. It promotes in the pupils a sense of enjoyment and enrichment in their lives.

Specifically the department teaches an appreciation of artists, designers and craft workers in society and other cultures, which helps the pupils to understand the diversity of people in their own community and the wider world community.

The Art & Design Department is a team of two full-time teachers, one part-time teacher and one part-time technician. The subject is taught from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 4 and 5. The demand for Art & Design is always high at GCSE and A-level, with results from CCEA examinations proving excellent year-on-year. Last year, the Department produced two of the highest scoring candidates for Art & Design in Northern Ireland at A-level.

Year 14 ArtOur programme of study covers drawing, painting, print-making, fashion and textiles, ceramics, photography, architecture, computer aided design and art history and appreciation. Year 14 Art Work The Art & Design Department has a strong presence within the school, contributing to activities within the liturgical year and on school occasions such as the Christmas show.
