AS Geography Fieldwork (Plant Succession at the Umbra Dunes)
On the 12th and 14th September the Year 13 AS Geography classes from Thornhill College undertook a fieldwork investigation of plant succession along the Umbra Dunes psammosere, with the assistance of their Geography Teachers (Mr McSorley, Mr McClafferty & Miss Morrison) and the staff from Magilligan Field Centre.
This fieldwork was completed in preparation for the AS 3: Fieldwork Skills and Techniques in Geography exam paper which the students will complete June, which is worth 20% of students AS grade.
With the assistance of mild weather, all of the students enjoyed working methodically and efficiently in the field to the collect the primary data needed for their investigation.
